The Heritage Council has issued a big thank you to all Heritage Week Event organizers and are asking for photos for their Wild Child Photo competition before Sep10th see HC Thank You

This looks like an interesting source for those doing research. The HC Kildare Archaeological Sources includes various canal (Grand, Barrow Line and Corbally) and other industrial heritage references. The sources are both historical and recent. Interesting diagram of a ‘canal boat’.
Artists and Architects on the Grand see Slow Boat from Offaly in the Irish Times. [However, there are many IWAI and HBA members, who might disagree with the last sentence in the IT report]. All around the world, on Sep 23rd 2010 people commemorated the remarkable life and legacy of Arthur Guinness. Building on the success of last year’s global celebration, a series of remarkable celebrations and live music events took place. Here in Ireland the Heritage Boat Association celebrated in Limerick with Dolan’s Pub, when 68M continued the reenactment of the ‘final farewell’ see press release Arthurs Day and 68M and news and photos of the event Arthurs Day Limerick photos [updated]

Here are listed the latest references and news on the Royal Canal celebrations next weekend.

On the first weekend of October, a group of waterways enthusiasts will meet and walk the route of the old Limerick Navigation. “Daniel O’Connell used it to get to Westminster; turf boats from Macnab’s Bog (Montpelier) used it to supply the steam engine at the Limerick Distillery; it was also part of the great trade route, linking Loop Head to Liverpool that established the Irish livestock industry”.
